The Market Readiness Assistance (MRA) grant ended on 29 September 2026. The EDGE Grant from Enterprise Singapore, launched on 30 September 2026, replaces it, along with the EDG and PSG.

EDGE Grant Singapore: what replaced the MRA grant, and can foreign founders qualify?

In short: Enterprise Singapore’s EDGE Grant launched on 30 September 2026, replacing the MRA, EDG and PSG. It supports up to 50% of qualifying costs for SMEs and up to 30% for non-SMEs. For internationalisation and sustainability activities, the support is up to 70% for SMEs and up to 50% for non-SMEs.

To apply, a business must:

  • be registered and operating in Singapore
  • be at least 30% owned (directly or indirectly) by Singapore citizens and/or Singapore PRs, judged by the ultimate individual owners
  • not have started work, or paid any supplier, before applying

A 100% foreign-owned company does not qualify. Each company has an annual EDGE grant cap of S$100,000 across all activities (resetting every 1 April), and other conditions vary by activity. Paul Hype Page & Co. (Since 2008) helps foreign founders structure their Singapore company and check whether it can qualify.

How foreign founders can qualify

  1. Have genuine Singaporean or PR owners holding at least 30%, for example a co-founder or investor. Enterprise Singapore looks at the ultimate individual owners, so shares held by a nominee on a foreigner’s behalf count as the foreigner’s.
  2. Shares held by Singapore PRs count towards the 30%. A founder who becomes a PR therefore counts as local. PHP’s PR application service starts from S$3,800.
  3. Keep the ownership at 30% until you claim. If the company stops meeting the criteria during the project, Enterprise Singapore will not support the claim.
  4. If you can’t meet the 30%, plan around the start-up tax exemption instead.
