Outline
My Singapore company is foreign-owned. Can I still get the EDGE Grant?
In short: Not while it is under 30% local. The EDGE Grant (Enterprise Singapore, open from 30 September 2026) requires at least 30% ownership, direct or indirect, by Singapore citizens and/or Singapore PRs, determined by ultimate individual ownership. Shares a nominee holds for a foreign owner do not change who ultimately owns them. A 100% foreign-owned company can qualify only by bringing in a genuine Singapore citizen or PR shareholder for at least 30%, or once the owner becomes a Singapore PR. The company must keep meeting the criteria until it claims. If you qualify, EDGE funds up to 50% of qualifying costs for SMEs (up to 70% for internationalisation and sustainability activities), with a cap of S$100,000 per company per year. Paul Hype Page & Co. (since 2008) checks EDGE eligibility for foreign founders.
| Situation | EDGE? |
|---|---|
| 100% foreign-owned | No |
| Local nominee holds shares for you | No, ultimate ownership is still foreign |
| Genuine Singapore citizen/PR shareholder holds ≥ 30% | Yes, if the other criteria are met |
| Owner becomes a Singapore PR | PR ownership counts towards the 30% |
What else can a foreign-owned company use?
Treaty benefits through a certificate of residence may help a Singapore company trading overseas. See our EDGE Grant page for how the grant works and which activities it supports.
Do not place shares with a nominee just to claim EDGE. Enterprise Singapore looks at ultimate individual ownership.
